Job Overview

We're looking for an experienced professional with a strong track record of navigating complex risks, particularly in the context of climate change and democratic decline.

  • You'll be joining our Global Risk Team, working closely with our Risk Manager and collaborating with various global teams to embed robust risk management practices into campaign design and delivery.
  • This is a new position with scope to shape the role as we expand our risk management operations. You will report to the Risk Manager who reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Key Responsibilities
  • Engage with campaigns throughout their lifecycle to provide a risk management perspective.
  • Provide guidance and feedback on campaign materials and direction to internal teams and partners, focusing on compliance and safety risks.
  • Assist in determining the escalation path for high-risk activities, collaborating with the Risk Manager and Executive teams.
  • Support teams in undertaking risk identification, assessment, and monitoring for projects during planning and implementation. Assist in addressing risk issues, analyzing and rating risks, assessing mitigation activities, and developing response plans.
  • Review current policies and procedures to identify process gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • Operationalize and support internal governance processes related to managing campaign risks.
  • Assist with country risk profiles when determining campaign feasibility and support legal in undertaking legal risk assessments.
  • Promote a culture of risk awareness and accountability through training, education, and risk management consultative support. Work with network teams to ensure risk is monitored and managed appropriately and assess the effectiveness of mitigation actions.
  • Support our global risk management strategy based on an enabling approach.
Requirements
  • Experience in campaigns and risk management, preferably in an international organization or with a global footprint; non-profit and/or communications experience is advantageous.
  • Strong cross-cultural experience and communication skills.
  • Experience working in asynchronous environments.
  • A solid understanding of risk management methodologies and adaptability to suit the organization's needs, promoting an enabling mindset.
  • Effective facilitation skills in group and individual settings, with the ability to hold complex conversations and manage disagreements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships across levels and effectively communicate and manage interpersonal relationships within the network and Risk team.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English, our working language; additional languages are an asset.
  • A genuine interest in and passion for addressing climate change.
  • The disposition to work collaboratively with colleagues in a high-trust global community of peers.
  • Adaptable skills necessary to thrive in a fast-paced and wide-ranging work environment, working across time zones using tools like Zoom, Slack, and email (Google Workspace).
