Job Title: Senior Financial Specialist

  • We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Specialist with extensive experience in US non-profit accounting to join our team. This remote, part-time position involves financial reporting, close processes, audits, and compliance responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Compile and analyze account data to ensure accuracy and integrity.
  • Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by consolidating and analyzing account information.
  • Maintain the general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts, preparing a trial balance, and reconciling entries.
  • Summarize financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other reports.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close responsibilities and ensure team members stay on track during the close process.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the organization to optimize processes and efficiency.
  • Ensure deadlines and controls are met according to policies and procedures.
  • Deliver accurate financial information to external auditors for annual audits and quarterly reviews.
  • Conduct internal audit engagements.
  • Analyze and schedule general ledger accounts and provide information for auditors during external audits.
  • Comply with legal requirements to avoid potential challenges.
  • Secure financial information by completing database backups.
  • Protect the organization's financial information.
  • Assist with month-end close and other projects as needed.
  • Interact with various levels of management and peers.
  • Plan, schedule, and organize work independently with minimal supervision to complete tasks within designated timelines.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and more than seven years of experience in finance or accounting or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in US non-profit accounting including reporting and compliance (tax).
  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and/or IFRS.
  • Certified Public Accountant is desirable.
  • Experience in a Big 4 firm is desirable.
  • Strong MS Excel skills.
  • Experience developing financial reports and metrics.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with various management levels.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to a changing environment.
  • Strong Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.
  • Superior attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining the big picture.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others through effective verbal and written communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive projects across an organization.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
