Job Title: Payroll Specialist

This is a key role within the organization responsible for managing end-to-end payroll processing. The ideal candidate will have experience with union payroll, job costing, and prevailing wage compliance.

  • We are seeking a skilled Payroll Specialist to join our team. As a member of our HR department, you will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing in accordance with collective bargaining agreements and all applicable federal, state, and local laws.
Responsibilities:
  • Audit and verify timecards, rate changes, retroactive adjustments, bonuses, and final pay calculations.
  • Process and verify deductions such as benefits, union dues, garnishments, auto allowance, and Direct Bill payments.
  • Manage W-2s, year-end filings, and state tax withholdings setup.
  • Submit and audit files for DailyPay, Purchasing Power, and other payroll-related programs.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state payroll and leave laws, labor regulations per FLSA, and prevailing wage requirements.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on payroll processing experience in a multi-jurisdiction environment.
  • Strong understanding of payroll laws, accounting principles, and tax regulations.
  • Experience with union payroll, job costing, and prevailing wage compliance preferred.
About the Role:

This role supports HR, Finance, and external vendors, plays a key part in audits, compliance, tax reporting, and system improvements. It also involves providing exceptional customer service and contributing to a positive employee experience.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and proficiency with payroll systems (e.g., Paycom) and Microsoft Office Suite.
