Immersive Go (Golang) Software Experience

Canonical is pioneering a groundbreaking open-source developer experience tool. Our mission is to revolutionize the way software engineers interact with Linux-based environments.

The ideal candidate will join our team to craft innovative tools that redefine traditional developer workflows. We're rethinking environment setup across multiple industry domains, aiming to preserve what people love about Linux while enabling better work in immutable distro environments and remote cloud resources.

You'll work closely with our team to design the user experience of new capabilities in the tool, write high-quality code to create new features, and obsess over correctness and robustness for diverse use cases.

Our ultimate goal is to empower developers to focus on what matters most - building great software.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design user experience of new capabilities in the tool
  • Write high-quality code to create new features
  • Ensure correctness and robustness of work for diverse use cases
  • Maintain implementation strategy from performance, quality, and security perspectives
  • Collaborate with teams inside and outside Canonical

Requirements:

  • Professional software development experience using Go, Python, C, or C++
  • Knowledge of Linux system-level fundamentals, e.g., cgroups and namespaces

Additional Qualifications:

  • Curious and thoughtful approach to problem-solving
  • Excellent academic track record
  • Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or an alternative chosen path
  • Confidence in communicating ideas and feedback
  • Strong written and spoken English skills
  • Ability to travel internationally for company events

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience with LXC/LXD
  • Experience with AI/ML and/or CUDA/OpenVINO
  • Knowledge of system and language package managers internals
