Education Specialist Role

The Asian Development Bank is seeking an Education Specialist to lead the formulation and articulation of policy and strategies in the education sector. This role involves working with developing member countries to strengthen their technical and vocational education training (TVET) systems and enhance skills development and labor market interventions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the processing and administering of subregional and country-specific loan, grant, and technical assistance projects related to TVET and skills development.
  • Collaborate with government officials and development partners to engage in policy dialogues on TVET sector reforms, labor market programs, and other related issues.
  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with external partners for knowledge and co-financing opportunities.
  • Assess strategies and policies for TVET and labor market interventions to ensure they align with international best practices and respond to development needs.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree or equivalent in education, economics, engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of relevant professional experience in TVET, project preparation, and administration, including integration of financial, economic, social, institutional, and safeguard requirements.
  • Two years of experience outside ADB within the past five years, preferably in a developing member country.
  • Broad experience in investment project preparation, analysis of development policies, and procurement and consultant recruitment.
  • Managerial skills and experience leading professionals, teams, and missions for technical matters, projects, and decisions in education sector management.
