About the Role

We are seeking an experienced reliability expert to oversee the stability, performance, and security of our digital operations. This includes internal tools like GitLab and high-traffic platforms such as websites.

This role involves leading reliability efforts, guiding a team, and shaping systems that power our business. Key responsibilities include designing scalable systems, monitoring servers and tools, responding to system issues, and reviewing security risks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design fast, secure, and reliable systems at scale
  • Monitor servers, tools, and infrastructure daily to ensure proper operation
  • Respond to system issues or outages and implement preventive measures
  • Install and configure new servers or rebuild existing ones when necessary
  • Review security risks and recommend improvements to protect systems
  • Improve automation for system setup, monitoring, and performance tuning
  • Guide and support other team members with best practices and technical insights
Requirements:
  • At least 6 years of experience in systems engineering or software development
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related IT field
  • Hands-on experience with Linux systems (CentOS, Ubuntu)
  • Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python, Perl); knowledge of PHP, C/C++, or Java is beneficial
  • Experience working with databases and optimized queries
  • Familiarity with server setup and configuration
  • Comfort using monitoring tools (Splunk, Papertrail, Nagios, Sysdig)
  • Knowledge of server security (firewalls, SSL, encryption)
  • Exposure to cloud platforms like AWS, Rackspace, or Google Cloud
  • RHCSA/RHCSE certification or comparable required
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules
