About the Job

As a Lead Financial Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for overseeing financial operations and ensuring they run smoothly. This includes leading onboarding and cleanup projects, mentoring junior staff members, and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs). You will also be in charge of managing deadlines and ensuring timely completion of tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and approve the quality of work produced by junior staff members.
  • Lead accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes, including invoice preparation and approval flows, as well as reconciliation.
  • Manage onboarding and cleanup workflows for new client accounts.
  • Maintain and enhance SOPs, checklists, and process documentation to ensure compliance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal standards.
  • Train and coach junior staff members, serving as an escalation contact.
  • Effectively manage multiple clients and meet all deadlines for month-end close.
  • Collaborate with the pod lead to execute onboarding plans.
  • Communicate effectively via email and Slack using alias accounts.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting.
  • Detailed understanding of US GAAP, full-cycle bookkeeping, and financial cleanup.
  • Experience with QuickBooks, Xero, or similar platforms.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and adherence to processes.
  • Strong leadership capabilities and mentoring experience.
  • Track record of creating or refining SOPs and efficient workflows.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and written communication skills.
