Freelance Draftsman Position Overview

This is a Freelance Draftsman position where the selected candidate will be responsible for providing drafting services to our clients. The ideal candidate will have experience in residential construction or home remodeling drafting, with a strong background in AutoCAD and SketchUp.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate lot-specific drawings and revise existing plan documents with engineering details.
  • Organize work for computer access and provide timely support to builders on-site.
  • Expedite permitting by liaising with city/county staff and produce address-specific plans within set deadlines.
  • Update and manage the plan library per manager's directives and create new plan designs from schematics to the design development stage.
  • Execute SPR drafting tasks and field questions and update previously distributed work promptly.
  • Support the Permit Coordinator with submittal materials and questions and analyze, research, and defend drawings to jurisdictional reviewers as needed.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • An associate's degree in a related field or equivalent; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 2-5 years of drafting experience or equivalent.
  • Residential construction or home remodeling drafting experience required.
  • Familiarity with building codes and permitting standards in WA and OR preferred.
  • Ability to conduct internet research and familiarity with local GIS.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to build rapport.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to collaborate with various stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
