Freelance Draftsman Job Opportunity

  • This is an opportunity for a freelancer to work with engineering partners and provide customer support.

The ideal candidate will have an associate's degree in a related field, 2-5 years of drafting experience, and residential construction or home remodeling drafting experience. The role requires strong research skills, the ability to generate accurate drawings, and excellent communication skills to liaise with builders, city/county staff, and jurisdictional reviewers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research local GIS to find plats or surveys, recreate lot lines, develop house placement and orientation options, generate site layout options, and ensure complete and accurate agency submittals.
  • Generate lot-specific drawings, revise existing plan documents with engineering details, and organize work for computer access.
  • Support builders on-site, expedite permitting by liaising with city/county staff, and produce address-specific plans within set deadlines.
  • Update and manage the plan library, create new plan designs from schematics to design development stage, and execute SPR drafting tasks.
  • Analyze, research, and defend drawings to jurisdictional reviewers as needed.

  • Associate's degree in a related field.
