About the Role

Canonical is seeking a highly skilled Software Support Engineer to join our team. This exciting role will involve working in a dynamic and challenging engineering environment, covering all layers of the stack, including bare metal, virtualization, containerization, storage, networking, OpenStack, Kubernetes, and open source applications.

The successful candidate will have a passion for Linux and open source technology, as well as excellent communication and troubleshooting skills. They will be responsible for resolving complex customer problems, maintaining close working relationships with Field, Support, and product engineering teams, participating in upstream communities, developing bug fixes, backporting patches, and reviewing code produced by other engineers.

  • Resolve complex customer problems related to Ubuntu, Kernel, Ceph, OpenStack, or Kubernetes and other open source software
  • Maintain a close working relationship with Canonical's Field, Support and product engineering teams
  • Participate in upstream communities
  • Develop bug fixes, backport patches, and work with upstream for inclusion
  • Review code produced by other engineers
What We Are Looking For

We are looking for an exceptional academic track record, background in Computer Science, STEM, or similar, experience with Linux and open source software, experience with at least one of Python, Go, C, or C++ on Linux, and a drive to learn unfamiliar technology and deep-dive difficult issues.
