Sr Site Reliability Engineer (Project based)

This role involves ensuring the reliability and performance of our cloud-based systems.

Responsibilities
  • Develop a deep understanding of SRE principles (SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, toil reduction, reliability vs. velocity trade-offs).
  • Drive SRE adoption and culture change across teams and applications through proven experience and expertise.
  • Promote incident management, on-call practices, and blameless postmortems as key components of a robust SRE strategy.
  • Apply 5+ years of experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Utilize solid expertise with Kubernetes, including scaling, workload optimization, network policies, service mesh, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Leverage experience with infrastructure as code to streamline deployment and maintenance processes.
  • Collaborate on Reliability & Observability initiatives, focusing on:
    • Strong knowledge of monitoring, logging, and tracing technologies.
    • Design and implement alerting strategies aligned with SLOs/SLIs to ensure prompt issue detection and resolution.
    • Optimize application performance, resiliency, and cost efficiency in cloud-native environments through hands-on experience and expertise.
  • Contribute to Automation & Tooling efforts by:
    • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (preferably Python) for automation, reliability tooling, and operational improvements.
    • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and release engineering best practices.
    • Expertise in automating reliability tasks, reducing toil, and scaling best practices across multiple applications.
  • Successfully evangelize SRE best practices and influence engineering/product teams in adopting them.
  • Share experience mentoring engineers and establishing communities of practice around reliability.
  • Effectively manage stakeholder expectations to balance product delivery goals with reliability requirements.
  • Excel in communication skills to facilitate seamless collaboration and information exchange.
Qualifications
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Hands-on experience migrating applications to SRE operating models in multi-team/multi-application settings.
    • Certification(s): Google Cloud Professional DevOps Engineer, Kubernetes CKA/CKS, or equivalent.
