Medical Virtual Assistant Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Virtual Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with medical professionals and healthcare insurance companies to ensure the best interests of the healthcare provider, patient, and medical establishment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage inbound and outbound calls regarding inquiries, appointments, and data verification
  • Maintain exceptional phone etiquette
  • Navigate Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) such as Cerner, Epic, AthenaNet/AthenaHealth, and NextGen to obtain medical history
  • Verify healthcare insurance coverage and eligibility
  • Provide administrative support including data entry, appointment scheduling, email management, record management, and time-keeping
  • Take charge of health promotion, explanation of care plans, admissions, new patient intake, and front-desk triage
  • Establish a professional relationship with medical professionals and patients by acting as a primary liaison between patients and providers
  • Adhere to HIPAA policy
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • 1–2 years of experience in a medical-related field
  • Familiarity with medical terminologies
  • Healthcare-related degree is highly preferred
  • Intermediate skills with Google Workspace and/or Microsoft Office
  • HIPAA certification is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail
