Responsibilities
  • Claim Processing: Accurately post medical charges, payments, and journal entries to patient accounts.
  • Insurance Interactions: Work directly with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and patients to efficiently process and manage claims.
  • Eligibility Verification: Verify insurance eligibility and benefits, along with patient registration data.
  • Claims Submission: Prepare and transmit claims using the Athena billing software.
  • Follow-up and Resolution: Proactively follow up on unpaid claims and research denied claims to ensure maximum reimbursement.
  • Appeals Management: Expertly appeal denied claims, navigating complex insurance guidelines.
  • Compliance: Maintain strict compliance with all HIPAA regulations and industry standards.
  • Claim Status Updates: Perform eligibility verification and obtain accurate claim statuses from various insurance payers.
  • Billing Accuracy: Review patient bills and read superbills for precise charge entries.
  • Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) and Explanation of Benefits (EOB): Post ERA and EOB from diverse systems.
Qualifications
  • Medical Billing Experience: Proven experience as a Medical Biller, specifically with extensive hands-on experience using the Athena billing software/EMR.
  • US Healthcare Insurance Knowledge: Solid understanding of US healthcare insurance guidelines and medical billing best practices.
  • Eligibility and Benefit Verification: Demonstrated ability to perform eligibility and benefit verification.
  • Payer Portal Navigation: Proficiency in obtaining claim statuses and navigating payer portals.
  • Charge Entry and Posting: Experience with charge entry from superbills and posting ERA/EOB.
  • HIPAA Compliance: Strong commitment to maintaining HIPAA compliance.
  • Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
