Software Tester Job Summary

The role of software tester is crucial in ensuring the quality and reliability of software products. A software tester works closely with a scrum team to refine stories and identify the correct test strategy.

Key responsibilities include creating test plans that can easily be executed by oneself or others, designing and implementing automated tests to maximize regression coverage, participating in code reviews and design discussions, and reviewing and providing detailed feedback on test plans created by other team members.

A software tester must possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with team members. Experience in testing web applications, knowledge of cross-browser and user-interface testing techniques, and familiarity with leading test automation tools and frameworks are also essential.

Qualifications
  • Functional Testing Experience: 3-5 and 5-8 years in QA
  • Hands-on experience in functional and cross-functional testing
  • Experience in testing web applications with knowledge of cross browsers and user-interface testing techniques
  • Demonstrate experience with exploratory testing, not just working to test plans
  • Test Case Management: Creating, executing, and managing test cases with or without business requirements/design documents
  • Ability to triage failures, identify root cause, and define corrective actions
  • Experience with at least one leading test automation tool and framework
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
  • Skilled in using Selenium for automated web testing, including writing and maintaining test scripts
  • Experience in executing Agile and Continuous Delivery best practices
  • Experience working in cross-functional virtual teams
  • Understanding of full life cycle development right from the requirements gathering to delivery
  • Experience with testing products on .NET, SQL, XML, web services
