Logistics Manager Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Logistics Manager to oversee and coordinate our company's logistics operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing effective logistics strategies, managing day-to-day warehouse, transportation, and distribution activities, and forecasting and planning logistics requirements to meet customer demands.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement logistics strategies to optimize storage, transportation, and distribution processes.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of warehouse, transportation, and distribution activities.
  • Forecast and plan logistics requirements to meet customer demands and business objectives.
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers and service providers to secure competitive rates and reliable service.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators to identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of logistics operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to the logistics team to drive continuous improvement.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar logistics management role, preferably in the manufacturing, transport, or logistics industry.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to optimize logistics processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient in the use of logistics management software and data analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices related to logistics and supply chain management.
  • Ability to work under pressure and make timely decisions to meet deadlines.
  • Tertiary qualification in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
