Secure Systems Engineer Opportunity

We seek an accomplished Secure Systems Engineer to bolster our Linux cryptographic capabilities and enhance security posture.

  • Collaborate with other engineers in the Security Hardening team to achieve and retain various Security certifications and ensure seamless integration with our systems.
  • Develop, enhance, and implement cutting-edge Linux cryptographic components (OpenSSL, Libgcrypt, GnuTLS, and others) that meet FIPS and CC certification standards.
  • Partner with external security consultants to thoroughly test and validate kernel and crypto module components, ensuring robust security measures.
  • Collaborate with external partners to develop security hardening benchmarks and automate audit + remediation processes for Ubuntu-based systems.
  • Contribute high-quality solutions and expertise to Ubuntu mainline and upstream projects, driving community benefits and advancements.
  • Drive effective communication and collaboration within Canonical and externally to identify opportunities for improved security, rapidly resolve issues, and deliver solutions on schedule.
Required Skills:
  • Hands-on experience with low-level Linux cryptography APIs and debugging techniques.
  • Excellent software engineering fundamentals, including prior C development experience and a proven track record of implementing secure coding practices.
  • Proficiency in Linux system administration and shell scripting to streamline system maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of security and cryptography fundamentals, backed by direct experience writing secure code and implementing best practices.
  • Significant development experience working with open-source libraries and contributing to their growth.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to facilitate efficient collaboration with internal and external partners in a remote-first environment.
