Linux Kernel Developer Position

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Linux kernel developer to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for software engineering and a desire to work on cutting-edge projects.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operating system fundamentals, experience with C and/or Rust programming languages, and familiarity with version control practices using git.

This role requires collaboration with a globally distributed team, learning from senior mentors, and working closely with external partners on bleeding-edge platforms. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving issues in the kernel, submitting, reviewing, and applying kernel patches, and improving tooling and automation for delivery and test of Ubuntu Linux kernels.

Key requirements for this position include:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to travel twice a year for company events

Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with the team to develop and maintain the Linux kernel
  2. Diagnose and resolve issues in the kernel reported by customers, the community, and discovered through rigorous testing
  3. Submit, review, and apply kernel patches, working with internal and external upstream maintainers
  4. Improve tooling and automation for delivery and test of Ubuntu Linux kernels

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in Linux kernel development
  • Proficiency in C and/or Rust programming languages
  • Familiarity with version control practices using git
  • Strong understanding of operating system kernel fundamentals
