SMSF Accountant Role Overview

As an SMSF Accountant, you will be responsible for all production accounting activities, including preparing and reviewing financial statements, taxation requirements, and associated quality professional accounting outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing and preparation of annual Self-Managed Superannuation Fund Financial Statements, Tax Returns, and Audit Files
  • Filing and organizing information, collating the final packs and final letters to clients
  • Preparing audit files for review
  • Correspondence with clients, following up on outstanding information and liaising with them on technical matters
  • Assisting with the SMSF audit process
  • Administration tasks such as liaison with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO)
  • Working with a team of accountants, managing workflow, and implementing operating efficiencies through accounting and business systems
  • Preparing BAS and bookkeeping procedures
  • Staying informed on industry developments and changes in regulations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field

System and Application Knowledge

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in SMSF and Australian Accounting
  • Experience using SuperMate, ClassSuper, MS Office Suite, and other related business and accounting systems
