Senior Financial Operations Manager

As a seasoned Financial Controller, you will play a pivotal role in leading day-to-day financial operations. Your primary responsibilities include ensuring accurate reconciliations, maintaining audit-ready records, and overseeing the month-end close process.
You will collaborate with project managers and accountants on project status reviews, project margin analysis, and billing support. Additionally, you will be responsible for reviewing bi-weekly payroll for accuracy, resolving complex payroll issues, and approving monthly payroll reconciliation and journals.
Your expertise in Deltek VantagePoint is essential, as you will oversee and support the maintenance of this system, including report development, system optimization, and ensuring the accuracy of the General Ledger (GL) and Project Ledger.
Key to your success will be providing financial reports for bank loan covenant purposes, ad-hoc audits, client requests, and government compliance reviews. You will also assist with complex proposals, billing rate calculations, and project change orders.
As a senior member of our finance team, you will supervise the preparation of the annual Indirect Cost Calculation and prepare the annual Caltrans reporting package, including detailed labor cost reconciliation.
Furthermore, you will manage annual insurance renewals and ensure accurate allocation of insurance costs within the GL. Finally, you will support the Finance Director in maintaining the rolling forecast, developing the annual budget, preparing capacity planning, and staff utilization reports.
Required Skills and Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree with a major in accounting.
- Minimum 7 years of experience at the controller level in professional services or a project-based firm.
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP and project accounting (minimum 5 years of experience).
- A background in auditing and reconciliations.
- Strong knowledge of Deltek VantagePoint, preferably with excellent Excel skills.
- An out-of-the-box thinker, proactive, creative problem solver.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail.
- Experience supervising and mentoring an accounting team of all experience levels.
- Ability to prioritize work assignments and shift work efforts based on the needs of the team.
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
