Compensation Specialist

We seek a meticulous professional to oversee weekly payroll processing for field personnel, ensuring precision and adherence to prevailing wage requirements.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Process weekly compensation for construction team members, verifying accuracy and compliance with labor regulations.
  • Manage and submit Certified Payroll Reports (CPRs), including federal (WH-347) and state forms, in accordance with prevailing wage standards.
  • Analyze and report on fringe benefits for the field workforce to meet prevailing wage criteria and track internal costs.
  • Ensure accurate recording of project details, job locations, and applicable wage rates.
  • Regularly review payroll records and project information to identify and correct any errors.
  • Track and maintain essential documents related to compliance, such as wage determinations and subcontractor certifications.
  • Assist with the onboarding of new field employees, verifying correct wage classifications and project assignments.
  • Collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, and HR to ensure timely submission of necessary paperwork and tracking of project labor.
  • Respond to inquiries about compensation practices, documentation, and compliance from auditors, regulatory bodies, and internal teams.
  • Assist in preparing for and responding to compensation audits and inspections.
  • Generate internal reports and analyses related to field labor costs and benefit utilization.
  • Stay informed about changes in labor laws and prevailing wage rules.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of compensation experience within the construction industry, with some exposure to Certified Payroll or prevailing wages.
  • Familiarity with multi-state compensation is a plus.
  • Knowledge of certified prevailing wage rates for different municipalities OR a good understanding of how to complete federal and state compensation forms related to prevailing wages.
  • Comfortable using compensation systems and construction software (e.g., LCPtracker, Procore, or similar).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint at an intermediate level.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Good communication and time management skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Associate's degree in business administration, finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of payroll experience within the construction industry, with some exposure to Certified Payroll or prevailing wages.
