Looking for a seasoned AS/400 RPG/ILE Developer to join our team. This role is ideal for individuals with a passion for system design, development, and testing. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Designing, coding, testing, and maintaining RPG/ILE programs to meet business requirements.
  2. Developing and enhancing modular programs, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices.
  3. Collaborating with business analysts to understand and translate business requirements into technical specifications.
  4. Designing effective and efficient solutions on the AS/400 platform.
  5. Working with DB2 databases on the AS/400, utilizing SQL for data manipulation and retrieval.
  6. Ensuring data integrity and optimizing database interactions within RPG programs.
  7. Integrating RPG/ILE modules into comprehensive business applications.
  8. Collaborating with cross-functional teams including analysts and project managers to achieve project goals.
  9. Conducting thorough testing of RPG programs to identify and resolve issues.
  10. Debugging and optimizing code for performance improvements.
  11. Maintaining comprehensive documentation for all RPG/ILE programs, ensuring clarity and ease of future reference.
  12. Documenting data structures, program logic, and other relevant information.
  13. Optimizing RPG/ILE programs for efficiency, considering system resources and response times.
  14. Implementing improvements to enhance overall system performance.
  15. Utilizing version control systems to manage code changes and updates systematically.
  16. Responding to and resolving issues related to RPG/ILE programs promptly, minimizing disruption to business operations.

Required skills and qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of system delivery experience, preferably in the insurance/financial services field, collaborating across technology domains.
  • Proven experience as an AS/400 RPG/ILE Developer.
  • Proficiency in RPG IV, ILE, CL, and DB2 on the AS/400 platform.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.

Preferred skills include:

  • Working knowledge of AS/400, RPGLE, preferably in insurance field.
  • Good understanding of system development life cycle and quality assurance processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
