Linux Software Maintenance Engineer Role

We are seeking a skilled Software Maintenance Engineer to join our team. This role will involve working on various aspects of the Linux-based infrastructure and applications, including bare metal, virtualization, containerization, storage, networking, and open-source software.

The ideal candidate will have experience with Linux and open-source software, as well as proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Go, C, or C++. They should also be able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Resolve complex customer problems related to Ubuntu, kernel, Ceph, OpenStack, or Kubernetes and other open-source software.
  • Maintain close working relationships with Canonical's Field, Support, and product engineering teams.
  • Participate in upstream communities.
  • Develop bug fixes, backport patches, and work with upstream for inclusion.
  • Review code produced by other engineers.
  • Demonstrate good judgment in technical methods and techniques.
  • Prioritize work and manage time effectively against priorities.
  • Participate in team discussions to improve processes, tools, and documentation.

Requirements:

  • Exceptional academic track record.
  • Background in computer science, STEM, or similar.
  • Experience with Linux and open-source software.
  • Experience with at least one programming language such as Python, Go, C, or C++.
  • Drive to learn unfamiliar technology and deep-dive difficult issues.
