Prior Authorization Role Overview

Our endocrinology practice seeks a meticulous and professional medical authorization specialist to support its day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain prior authorizations for medications, diagnostic tests, and procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Schedule appointments, follow-ups, and procedures in coordination with the endocrinology team while ensuring seamless communication with patients.
  • Manage patient calls with professionalism and empathy, addressing queries and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Clearly communicate with patients regarding authorizations, scheduling, and preparation requirements, ensuring they are well-informed throughout the process.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and staff to maintain smooth patient flow and minimize delays, guaranteeing excellent patient care.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in electronic medical records and insurance portals, adhering to industry standards and best practices.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in medical authorization, insurance verification, or similar roles.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance processes, benefits verification, and prior authorization workflows, with the ability to adapt to changing regulations.
  • Excellent spoken English skills with a neutral or clear accent, enabling effective communication with patients and healthcare professionals.
  • The capacity to handle a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks efficiently, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a patient-centric attitude, fostering a positive experience for patients and colleagues alike.
