Role Summary

Customs and Trade Compliance Specialist
  • The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of customs regulations, trade compliance, and logistics. They must be able to classify commodities according to the Harmonized System (HS) tariff and determine the Country of Origin in accordance with applicable customs regulations.
  • They will also need to classify exports under the EAR for various products, parts, and components, as well as review restricted party screening and embargoed country holds.
  • A Customs and Trade Compliance Analyst is responsible for communicating process exceptions and improvement suggestions, preparing and organizing trade compliance records and documentation, and supporting global trade compliance data within SAP and other databases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Classify Commodities: Perform HS tariff classifications for various products, parts, and components.
  • Determine Country of Origin: Classify exports under the EAR for various products, parts, and components, and review restricted party screening and embargoed country holds.
  • Manage Trade Compliance Data: Prepare and organize trade compliance records and documentation, and support global trade compliance data within SAP and other databases.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Commodity Classification Knowledge: Knowledge/experience with WCO Harmonized System for commodity classification.
  • Country of Origin Knowledge: Knowledge/experience with WCO non-preferential rules of origin.
  • Restricted Party Screening: Knowledge/experience with restricted, sanctioned, and embargoed party screening.
  • Computer Skills: Strong computer skills and English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Remote Work Ability: Ability to work remotely via VPN internet connection.
  • Additional Skills: Experience with SAP GTS is helpful. A Bachelor's Degree in Customs Administration, International Trade, International Logistics, International Relations, or Business Management; or 2 years of direct experience.
