Financial Operations Specialist

  • We are seeking a highly skilled financial operations specialist to join our team on a freelance basis. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for managing and automating our day-to-day accounting and finance operations.
  • You will improve the setup / configuration of QuickBooks Online for our Canadian entity, including the chart of accounts, bank feeds, and automation rules.
  • Manage and automate accounting and financial tasks such as reconciliations, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and reporting.
  • Migrate existing financial tools from Excel/Google Sheets into our new automated reporting app for two small entities.
  • Collaborate with our Canadian accountant to ensure compliance, while focusing on efficiency and streamlined operations.
Qualifications and Skills
  • A solid background in accounting and bookkeeping.
  • Digital savvy with the ability to streamline processes and leverage automation tools.
  • Excellent Excel and/or Google Sheets skills (formulas, pivot tables, dashboards).
  • Hands-on, detail-oriented, and proactive about process improvements.
  • Comfortable working in a start-up environment: resourceful, flexible, and solution-oriented.
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks Online is an asset.
  • Flexible, remote freelance role with opportunities to shape our finance operations from the ground up.
