Canadian Accounting Position

The role of Canadian Staff Accountant is ideal for a self-motivated professional who takes ownership of their work and can manage files independently from start to finish.

This person will communicate directly with clients, build strong relationships, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the firm.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage engagement work from planning through completion with minimal supervision.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships by understanding client business models and providing timely communication.
  • Participate in planning meetings and contribute to engagement strategy with input from senior team members.
  • Prepare compiled financial statements (NTR), note disclosures where applicable, and corporate tax returns (T2).
  • Perform GL account reviews for reasonability and accurate allocations.

The ideal candidate will have 2–4 years of experience in Canadian public accounting, be proficient with iFirm, CaseWare/CaseView, and Microsoft 365, and have a strong understanding of ASPE and Canadian tax standards.

They will also possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, client-facing experience, and the ability to manage competing deadlines and balance multiple engagements.

Requirements:
  • Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA designation in progress or newly earned.
  • Proficient with CCH iFirm, Caseware, Taxprep, QBO, Adobe.
  • Familiarity with investment bookkeeping, CRA tax filings, payroll schedules, and general year-end workflows.
