Job Overview

The solar design specialist plays a pivotal role in supporting both the sales and installation teams by ensuring that solar designs account for customer preferences, company policies, as well as local, state, and national codes.

This position entails utilizing aerial imagery and web-based software to create 3D models of homes and their surroundings, which are used to generate custom proposals showcasing customers the expected panel layout and solar production of their system.

The solar design specialist is part of the proposal design team, serving as the primary line of design support for the sales team to successfully sign new customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure solar designs meet customer preferences, company policies, and local, state, and national codes.
  • Create 3D models of homes and their surroundings using aerial imagery and web-based software.
  • Generate custom proposals showing customers the expected panel layout and solar production of their system.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Experience with designing and/or constructing solar electric systems is preferred.
  • Proficiency in solar production modeling software such as Aurora is also preferred.
  • A working knowledge of residential electrical and roofing standards is desired.
  • Familiarity with the National Electrical Code and local building codes is beneficial.
  • NABCEP certification is highly valued.
  • Experience with Salesforce CRM software and AutoCad software is advantageous.
