Senior Tax Accountant Position

The role of a senior tax accountant is to assist clients in preparing financial and management accounting reports for review by senior team members. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Australian accounting, taxation, and clients, as well as the ability to prepare financial statements and annual tax returns for multiple clients.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist clients in preparing financial and management accounting reports
  • Prepare compliance jobs for the trial balance stage
  • Identify franking account issues such as franking deficit tax and penalties
  • Review client-prepared BAS/IAS and assist with the amendment/correction of the system
  • Resolve basic problems arising in client financial statements
  • Prepare and analyze accounts, income tax returns, company annual returns, Business Activity Statements, Fringe Benefit Tax returns, and notices of assessment
  • Identify business performance issues and key indicators

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of experience with a Chartered Accounting Firm
  • Experience with Australian accounting, taxation, and clients
  • Expertise in preparing financial statements and annual tax returns for multiple clients
  • Strong understanding of fundamental accounting concepts and principles
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook
  • Working knowledge of computerized accounting packages, i.e., Xero and MYOB
