Remote System Administrator Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced system administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Linux server administration, with experience in troubleshooting and resolving complex issues.

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing daily maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of Linux systems and services. They will also investigate alerts, coordinate responses, document response, and communicate effectively with team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of Linux systems and services.
  • Investigate alerts, coordinate responses, document response, and communicate effectively with team members.

Requirements:

  • 1 year of production Linux system administration experience.
  • Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
  • Ability to work various shift schedules, including early morning, evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts in a 24/7 production environment.
  • Proficient in Bash scripting and ability to understand and modify GoLang and Perl.
  • Familiarity with user management, configuration, and package management best practices.
  • Experience managing Proxmox or similar Linux KVM hypervisor.
  • Experience configuring and debugging networking issues, routing problems, and firewall rules.
  • Ubuntu or Debian experience is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with the following technologies: Apache, Nginx, HAProxy, MySQL, Redis, Memcache, ScyllaDB, Elasticsearch, RabbitMQ, Nagios, Prometheus, Grafana, Proxmox, Bash, Perl, Go, PHP, Ceph, CFEngine, Git, Docker, Juniper.
