A Safety Officer 2 is responsible for ensuring workplace safety and compliance with government regulations, overseeing safety programs, and mitigating risks within an organization. This role requires advanced expertise in occupational health and safety.

The core mission of the Safety Officer 2 is to ensure the Worker's safety. Prepares DOLE-related reports. Implements basic knowledge of procedures and applications of safety, health, fire, and life safety standards.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Certifications: Safety Officer 2 or 3 certification from an accredited institution (e.g., DOLE in the Philippines).
  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience in workplace safety or a related field.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards.
  • Excellent communication and training skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Leadership and teamwork capabilities.
  • Computer Literate
  • Can work with minimal supervision

Work Environment

  • May require frequent site visits and inspections.
  • Exposure to various working conditions, including industrial and construction settings.

Duties & Responsibilities

Safety Program Implementation:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor the company's safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards.
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards (e.g., OSH regulations).

Risk Assessment and Hazard Control:

  • Perform risk assessments to identify potential workplace hazards.
  • Recommend and implement measures to minimize risks.
  • Ensure all safety equipment is functional and accessible.

Training and Education:

  • Conduct safety orientations and training for employees.
  • Provide updates on safety procedures and regulatory changes.
  • Educate employees on emergency response and first-aid procedures.

Incident Management:

  • Investigate workplace accidents and near-misses to determine causes.
  • Prepare incident reports and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure timely reporting to relevant authorities.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Maintain compliance with local and national safety regulations.
  • Liaise with government agencies during audits or inspections.
  • Secure necessary permits and certifications related to workplace safety.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incident reports, and training sessions.
  • Submit regular safety performance reports to management.

Team Leadership:

  • Supervise junior safety officers and safety committee members.
  • Act as a resource for safety-related inquiries and concerns.
