Position Summary
The Programming and Outreach Coordinator is responsible for acting as the primary contact between CineVic, our membership, and the community at large. This includes: front-line in-person communications at our downtown headquarters; electronic communications and marketing; member orientation and support; coordination of workshops, events, programming, and volunteers; day-to-day office operations. The Programming and Outreach Coordinator is intimately familiar with the local independent film and media arts community.

Candidates must be between 15-30 years old years oldat the start of employment, and eligible to work in Canada as per CSJ eligibility guidelines.
Wage: $19.50 per hour
Term: 9 weeks, June 23rd to August 29th 2025
Hours: 30 hours per week
Location: CineVic headquarters in downtown Victoria, with potential for some remote work

Responsibilities:

The Programming and Outreach Coordinator's responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Act as first point of contact with membership and public; manage and respond to inquiries about the organization and our programs

• Provide support and orientation to prospective and current members

• Planning and delivery of workshops, events, and other programming including an annual film festival

• Create and manage content for e-newsletter, social media, website, press releases, and other promotional materials

• Create and manage marketing, sponsorship, and community outreach plans

• Conduct ongoing outreach and partnerships with other local festivals, educational institutions, First Nations, and community arts organizations

• Maintain database of members, productions, and contact lists

• Maintain the film and book library and general file archives

• Day-to-day office tasks such as invoicing, taking payments, shared cleaning responsibilities, keyholding and open/close of retail space

• Other such duties as may be required by the Equipment Manager and Executive Director from time to time

Qualifications:


• High school diploma or equivalent, and post-secondary education in communications, film, video, or media arts (degree or certification preferred; one year of study minimum)

• Effective time management and multitasking skills in both independent and team-based work environments

• Experience in front-line customer service, with excellent in-person and digital communication skills

• Experience in event coordination and promotion including volunteer recruitment and management

• Experience and demonstrated creativity in areas of media, communications, marketing, writing, graphic design, and public relations

• Proven attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to be organized, set priorities, meet deadlines, work under pressure, and take initiative in troubleshooting and problem solving

• Experience in collaboration with diverse individuals, including those facing social exclusion or barriers, people with disabilities, and marginalized/equity-seeking communities

• Ability to work in a Mac environment and learn new programs and platforms; proficiency with Word, Excel, Photoshop, InDesign, Canva, WordPress, Mailchimp, Quickbooks, Gmail, Google Docs and Sheets, video editing, email, forms and databases, social media, survey software, and cloud/shared files and folders

• Proven ability to write project proposals, press releases, and reports

• Positive attitude and proven interest in continually building knowledge, skills, and expertise

• Experience working with artist-run centres, collectives, or non-profit organizations an asset; passion and experience in filmmaking/media arts preferred
