Universal Robina Corporation is looking for Consumer Insights Manager
The CMI BU Chapter Lead for NUR is responsible for developing Consumer Insights functional excellence across the business unit. This includes ensuring a common approach, including standardization of tools and frameworks, to addressing business issues through consumer and market research, and, encouraging cross-pollination of learnings across squads.
S/he supports the Managing Director/Tribe Lead to define short-term and long-term strategies, and help inform objectives and key results of tribes. S/he supports the TRIBE and SQUADS to develop marketing and commercial strategies for the category using consumer, shopper, customer, retail and market data and insights, influencing decisions from base decisions to innovation, and guiding category growth.
This entails partnering with cross-functional teams to solve category-specific issues, as well as looking across markets to develop common approaches to grow the business. Cross-functional teams can be at a squad, tribe, BU or leadership teams e.g., R&D, sales mancom level and, in some cases, with external/ customers.
What Are Their Job Responsibilities
Help develop the medium to long-term strategies that achieve business goals for the Business/Category
- Develop where to play and how to win choices
- Influence/ develop/ inform brand strategy
Drive the growth strategy for the business/category through discovery of sharp, distinctive insights about the market, consumers and shoppers, and working with internal and external partners to help create and qualify new product/marketing/retail and trade ideas:
- Lead market assessment work for the category (and its sub-categories) including category and brand portfolio
- Lead workshops/ brainstorming sessions and idea labs in collaboration with internal and external partners
- Lead development and testing of propositions (including concepts, advertising, products and packaging, etc.)
- Creating and qualifying a pipeline of product initiatives
Lead learning plan development for the category in line with, and right sized, to deliver on business strategies and goals
Support other key elements of the CMI agenda including but not limited to:
- Strategic vendor management
- Efficient budget management
- Helping build capabilities within the CMI teams as well as the broader Marketing, Sales, and Innovation organization
- College graduate with at least 8 years Market Research experience in Consumer Goods or related field
- Proficient on technical knowledge and business application of research methodologies, with mastery in at least one key field (eg. Retail audit, consumer tracking, product testing, qual, etc.)
- Strong understanding of marketing and sales principles
- Broad understanding of consumer and market trends
- Combination of: Analytical thinking with an ability to identify patterns within data + Creative thinking to support development of new ideas
- Leadership Skills:
- Envision and set direction on projects and execute with excellence
- Influence mktg/sales leaders using insights knowledge to drive the right business actions
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written) to bring consumer insights to life for multi-functional audiences in a clear and engaging way
- Collaboration and ability to work and deliver in multi-functional and multi-cultural teams
- Continuously builds own and others' capabilities
- Strategic thinking and ability to influence/ drive strategic thinking across the business unit
