Job Description: We are seeking a motivated and dynamic Business Development Associate to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for renewable energy and a strong background in business development. This role involves identifying new business opportunities, building and maintaining client relationships, and contributing to the growth and success of Alba Renewables.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management:
- Collaborate with project management colleagues to ensure successful project implementation and execution.
- Monitor project progress and address any issues or obstacles that may arise.
- Business Development:
- Support in the identification and evaluation of utility-scale solar, wind, and battery projects, including site assessments, land acquisition, and partnership opportunities.
- Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of potential projects.
- Market Research:
- Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and market dynamics to identify emerging opportunities.
- Analyze market data and competitor activities to inform business development strategies.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Build and nurture relationships with local partners, utility companies, government agencies, landowners, and other key stakeholders.
- Collaborate with legal and regulatory teams to ensure project compliance and permitting.
- Proposal Development:
- Prepare and present compelling project proposals to stakeholders.
- Work closely with technical teams to ensure project feasibility and cost estimates align with expectations.
- Negotiation and Contracting:
- Manage negotiations with stakeholders and landowners to secure project agreements, including land leases, LGU permits, DOE and other government permits, and power purchase agreements (PPAs).
- Manage the contract process from negotiation to execution.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, environmental science, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
- Proven experience in project/business development within the renewable energy sector, specifically in utility-scale solar and wind in the Philippines.
- Successfully led the development of a renewable energy project from initial concept through to obtaining full permits.
- Strong knowledge of solar project development, including development, technical, and regulatory aspects.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of local and national energy policies and regulations. Experience with project development in the RE sector (or infrastructure) is required.
- Prior experience in procurement, engineering, Renewable Energy law, or land acquisition is a plus.
- Well-organized, accountable with an attention to detail, hardworking, and a quick learner.
- Can-do attitude, open-minded and approachable personality – used to working in a flat organization driven by excellence and transparent communications.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure.
