WHAT IS AN ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT?

Our awesome client is looking for an Assistant Accountant. This role will be in-charge of month-end duties, accruals, prepayments journals and reconciliations, as well as other accounting functions for a retail company.

WHAT WILL BE YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES?

  1. Month-end duties, accruals / prepayments journals and reconciliations
  2. Balance sheet reconciliations
  3. Bank reconciliations of company accounts
  4. Fixed Assets Accounting: addition, disposal, reconciliation and audit
  5. Preparing intercompany reconciliations and post required entries
  6. Preparing Business Activity Statements (BAS)
  7. Dealing with Store Managers about accounts and stock queries
  8. Preparing Daily Sales for the retail business
  9. Assist with back end stocktake process
  10. Support the organisation with project work, system upgrades and various other ad hoc finance related tasks
  11. Responding to enquiries from both internal and external sources
  12. Store Inventory transfer/ adjustments
  13. Process accurately & reconcile customer accounts weekly/monthly and ensure follow-up action is promptly executed with all overdue invoices/claims, etc.
  14. Assist with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable enquiries
  15. Ad hoc reports and providing analysis where required.
  16. Other duties as assigned by the Finance Manager
  17. Monthly Education Government sales reports
  18. Prepare audit documentations as directed by the Finance Manager

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  1. A minimum of 3 years' experience in a commercial environment in a similar role.
  2. Must be living within Metro Manila
  3. Keen to learn, enjoy process improvement, getting into the detail, are highly organised, a natural problem-solver
  4. Financial accounting experience with balance sheet reconciliations and journal processing
  5. Analytical skills including the ability to assess problems and propose solutions and then develop the framework to implement them.
  6. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise own workload
  7. Strong verbal and written communication skills
  8. Microsoft Excel intermediate to advanced capability, including pivot tables and formulas e.g. vlookup
  9. Takes initiative & able to follow directions
  10. Be able to work with Finance team and other Departments.
  11. Finance / Accounting Degree essential
