Position Summary: Buyer/Purchasing Staff is responsible for preparing purchase orders (PO), soliciting proposals, and reviewing requisitions for goods and services needed by the company.
Vendor Accreditation:
- Interview new vendors/suppliers and visit contractors' warehouses and supply centers to examine and learn about products and services.
- Research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities; and the supplier's reputation and history.
- Negotiate vendor contracts and payment terms with new suppliers.
- Ensure compliance of new vendors/suppliers with accreditation requirements.
- Prepare and serve supplier contracts with terms of payment favorable to FMIDC.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Process POs by coordinating with available accredited vendors/suppliers.
- Communicate openly with requestors regarding the status of requisitions/POs.
- Discuss defective items or services with requestors and suppliers/contractors and determine corrective actions.
Other Responsibilities:
- Attend meetings, trade shows, conferences, and seminars to network with other organizations' purchasing departments.
- Evaluate and monitor contract performance to ensure compliance and identify needs for changes.
- Maintain and review databases of purchased items, costs, deliveries, product performance, and inventories.
Position Specifications: Analytical skills, knowledge of import/export processes, effective communication skills, proficiency in computer applications, and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate of a 4-year degree in Business Administration (Management, Entrepreneurship, Supply Chain) or Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical).
- Experience: At least 1 year of work experience.
