Overview

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for supervising the maintenance and repair of mechanical systems and equipment (excluding Main Turbine and Turbine Control Systems) in the geothermal power plant. This position involves supervising RCM specialists, planning and implementing maintenance activities, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Maintenance management: Supervise overhauling, upgrading, preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance tasks on mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Testing and commissioning: Perform tests to verify equipment functionality and that maintenance work meets quality standards.
  • Troubleshooting and diagnostics: Identify, diagnose, and resolve mechanical equipment issues to minimize downtime.
  • Resource management: Allocate manpower, materials, tools, and equipment; manage inventory for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
  • Maintenance planning: Define task scope, resources required, and safety precautions using manuals, procedures, and historical data to optimize intervals.
  • Maintenance scheduling: Create and realign detailed maintenance schedules using computer systems to reflect plant priorities and emergencies.
  • Documentation and reporting: Consolidate and review documents and test results to identify trends and inform maintenance strategies.
  • Maintenance strategy: Apply RCM tools (e.g., FMECA, Asset Condition Assessment, Asset Criticality Analysis) to improve reliability and optimize costs.
  • SHE compliance: Enforce safety, health, and environmental policies within the mechanical team and promote hazard identification and risk mitigation.
  • Risk management: Conduct Task Risk Analysis for maintenance tasks and implement mitigation measures.
  • Budget and cost management: Collaborate on annual maintenance budgets, cost estimates, and economic evaluations for projects and upgrades; manage procurement and alignment with budgets.
  • Procurement and supplier management: Initiate and coordinate procurement activities; ensure timely delivery of resources; maintain procurement data accuracy and compliance.
  • Stakeholder communication: Coordinate with maintenance, production, and other departments; interface with external contractors and vendors; support change management initiatives.
  • Staff development: Lead training, skill enhancement, and performance feedback; assist in evaluations; perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be a Registered Mechanical Engineer
  • At least two (2) years of relevant professional experience in geothermal, thermal, industrial, or similarly complex operational environments
  • Strong technical competency with hands-on maintenance experience, knowledge of power plant operations (including steam field systems), proficiency with tools, equipment, and test instruments, and familiarity with plant software; ability to analyze data to enhance maintenance strategies and plant performance
