A highly organized and detail-oriented Collections Manager to oversee our collections department. This role involves developing and implementing effective strategies to manage and collect outstanding debts. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in collections, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to lead a team in achieving departmental goals.

Collections Manager Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement effective collections strategies and procedures to maximize debt recovery while maintaining positive customer relationships.

  2. Manage a team of collections agents, providing guidance, support, and training as needed.

  3. Monitor and analyze the performance of the collections team, implementing measures to improve productivity and success rates.

  4. Review and evaluate delinquent accounts, determining appropriate actions to be taken in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.

  5. Communicate with customers regarding their outstanding debts, negotiating payment plans, settlements, or other resolutions.

  6. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all collections activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines and internal policies.

  7. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal, finance, and customer service, to resolve complex or escalated customer issues.

  8. Stay current on industry trends and best practices in collections, implementing new strategies or technologies as needed to improve efficiency and results.

  9. Prepare regular reports on collections activities, presenting data and insights to upper management.

  9. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with customers and colleagues.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, or a related field preferred.

  2. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in collections, preferably in a supervisory or managerial role.

  3. Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements related to collections, including fair debt collection practices.

  4. Proficiency in using collections software and systems.

  5. Proven track record of meeting or exceeding collections targets.

  6. Strong understanding of financial statements and credit evaluation.

  7. Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
