We are seeking a QA Automation Engineer with deep expertise in Cypress and TypeScript to lead our test automation initiatives. As part of a cross-functional team, you will be responsible for designing scalable and maintainable test architectures, mentoring junior QA engineers, and ensuring a high level of software quality across our platforms. In addition to building and maintaining robust automated test suites, you will actively coach and train developers to adopt best practices in testing and quality ownership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of end-to-end automated test suites using Cypress and TypeScript
  • Define and enforce quality standards, testing strategies, and best practices
  • Work closely with developers and product teams to anticipate edge cases and validate complex user journeys
  • Optimize test reliability, performance, and CI/CD integration
  • Own test infrastructure and contribute to its scalability and maintainability
  • Perform regular code reviews of test code and mentor QA and dev team members
  • Monitor product quality metrics and drive continuous improvement
  • Coach and train developers in writing and maintaining reliable tests (integration, E2E)
  • Maintain, organize, and manage test cases and execution workflows using Squash or similar platforms, ensuring traceability and structured reporting across releases.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in software development or quality assurance, including 3+ years in test automation
  • Proven hands-on experience with Cypress and TypeScript in production environments
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)
  • Strong understanding of modern front-end architectures (Angular) and web testing challenges
  • Experience with tools for mobile emulation (e.g., Cypress viewport, DevTools, BrowserStack, Sauce Labs)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools (we're moving from Jenkins to GitLab CI)
  • Experience with test strategy design, test pyramid implementation, and flakiness management
  • Proficiency in REST API testing and integration validations
  • Solid version control skills (Git)
  • Excellent communication skills, autonomy, and problem-solving mindset
  • Experience using Squash or similar test management platforms to organize, track, and report test cases and execution results.

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience in mentoring or leading QA teams
  • Knowledge of containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Familiarity with BDD / Gherkin syntax (e.g., Cucumber)
  • Experience with visual regression, accessibility testing, or performance testing tools
  • Contributions to QA open source projects or communities
