Overview

The L3 Engineer will troubleshoot complex Windows OS and networking issues, collaborate with vendors for third-party software support when needed, manage network infrastructure, and maintain server and workstation systems. The role focuses on delivering exceptional customer service to clients while supporting and mentoring team members.

Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot, repair, deploy, and manage every aspect of small to mid-sized business computer networks, software systems, and infrastructure, including servers, workstations, networking equipment, and application software.
  • Advanced and escalated troubleshooting of Microsoft Windows servers, workstation operating systems, and network issues.
  • Facilitate vendor support for third-party software to solve escalated issues.
  • Plan and deploy server, network, and workstation installations, upgrades, and network refreshes. This includes server hardware builds, OS installation and configuration, software and application installation, and deployment of physical and virtual machines.
  • Address higher-level concerns in various-sized environments, from small single-site to large multi-site networks.
Qualifications
  • Experience in an MSP environment.
  • 3-4 years of full workstation support with troubleshooting Windows OS (Windows 8.1 to 11), including peripherals such as printers and scanners.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in systems administration or a related field.
  • Network experience, including firewalls. SonicWall is preferred, but other technologies such as WatchGuard, Meraki, and others are welcome.
  • Experience with smart switches, access points, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, and routers.
  • Experience with Microsoft Server 2008+ and server OS management, administration, deployment, and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Active Directory and supporting services (DNS, DHCP, File & Print Sharing).
  • Proficiency with Hyper-V and VMware hypervisors.
  • Knowledge of multiple network operating systems, protocols, security best practices, and implementation techniques.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and cloud management.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to quickly grasp abstract concepts and apply them in troubleshooting without step-by-step instructions.
  • Strong deductive reasoning and problem-solving skills without reliance on scripted steps.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with a focus on timely and effective solutions in line with industry best practices.
  • Strong teamwork, leadership, collaboration, and ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Proactive, outgoing personality with a willingness to take on new challenges and continuous learning.
  • Nice to have: Cloud server management and deployment experience (Microsoft/Google/Amazon).
  • Experience with Kaseya and ConnectWise Manage is a plus. Relevant certifications (A+, Net+, Security+, or similar) are beneficial.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in network administration or computer science is preferred but not required.
