Monitor and create local Cebu-based social media stories, amplify digital content, and write for multiple platforms with a focus on social media engagement. Your Role Key responsibilities include: Monitor established or developing social media stories for potential local Cebu-based follow-up and supplemental stories on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, and chat apps like Line, Kakao, WeChat, and Viber. Monitor standard media for potential local social media stories and national stories relevant to the Cebu audience, including key websites and wire services. Amplify CDN Digital and other Inquirer content on social media by promoting stories, highlighting connections, and participating in comment threads. Write local social media-specific stories for Inquirer.net’s social media platforms. Write longer stories on local news and features for publication on CDN Digital and other Inquirer platforms occasionally. Conceptualize and develop local features or special content for social media, including photos and videos occasionally. Perform remote General Assignments work for other Inquirer.net news desks occasionally. Perform other related tasks as assigned. About You The company is looking for: Education in Journalism or equivalent. At least six (6) months of work experience. Based in or willing to relocate to Cebu. In-depth knowledge of all things Cebu. Proficiency in English, Cebuano, and Filipino dialects. Ability to thrive in a virtual/remote working environment. Strong computer, communication, and writing skills. Creative, insightful, street smart, and digitally savvy. Active participation in social media activities such as blogging, community development and management, social bookmarking, commenting, etc. Understanding of popular social networks, including design, functionality, and users. Ability to produce community management guidelines and documents reflecting a holistic understanding of social media and its effects. This job may close before the stated closing date.
