Senior Database Support Engineer

Role Overview The ideal candidate will be a DBA with strong Oracle and SQL Server experience. The candidate will be part of the Global DBA Team supporting a mixed of, but not limited to, Oracle, SQL Server, Oracle Middleware, Oracle E‑Business Suite, MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, Postgres and database in the cloud platforms. The candidate will be a member of the Global Database Administration team providing infrastructure services and operational support across an expanding global company. An ideal candidate would have experience working within a financial institution or similar environment. Role Responsibilities To be part of global database support engineers providing comprehensive shift coverage in supporting the TPICAP’s database environment globally this will be a mixture of on‑site and offsite to provide 24/7 coverage. Represent the Global DBA team in any major incident call and take ownership of problem and problem tasks resolution in a timely manner. To provide operational support for DB issues initiated from Incidents or Changes. To provide solutions and root cause analysis of system performance and failure related issues. To work on projects and provide close liaison with project teams to ensure the smooth transition of new databases and initiatives into the Production environment. To work closely with functional manager and other team members To review & recommend options to improve the effectiveness of the database infrastructure. To establish / maintain best practices, processes and procedures to underpin the operations of the business. To performance monitoring/Testing and capacity planning. Creation / maintenance of full system documentation, including DR documentation. Innovation – continually looking at ways to improve infrastructure, for a faster and more efficient environment. To provide support on wider IT initiative including business continuity and security. To participate in on‑call rota and align to the agile working policies. Experience / Competences Essential An experience DBA with at least 5 years hands on experience, ideally gained in Financial Services sector. A proven track record in managing Oracle databases in version 23ai and 19c A proven track record in managing MS SQL databases in SQL 2022 and SQL 2019 Strong understanding of database clustering technologies – Oracle RAC, SQL AlwaysOn Hands on experience in performance tuning, data replication, provide high availability, disaster recovery, analytic, reporting solutions Experience in enterprise monitoring tools – Oracle OEM, Spotlight, AppDynamic Ability to create automation solutions (Unix shell, Windows PowerShell, Ansible) Experience in migrating databases to the cloud – AWS and Azure Accustomed to working in fast‑pace, agile and pressurised environments Ability to deal with outages and major incidents Familiarity with ITIL standards Solid working knowledge in Redhat Linux and Windows servers Desired A good understanding of Oracle Middleware, Weblogic 12c and Oracle E‑Business Suite Hands on knowledge on MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, Postgres databases is desirable A good understanding of cloud technologies and DevOps principles ITIL certified Professional certification – Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified, AWS Solution Architect for example Job Band & Level Manager / 6 #LI-Hybrid #LI-MID Not The Perfect Fit?
