Role Overview

The ideal candidate will be a DBA with strong Oracle and SQL Server experience. The candidate will be part of the Global DBA Team supporting a mixed of, but not limited to, Oracle, SQL Server, Oracle Middleware, Oracle E-Business Suite, MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, Postgres and database in the cloud platforms. The candidate will be a member of the Global Database Administration team providing infrastructure services and operational support across an expanding global company. An ideal candidate would have experience working within a financial institution or similar environment.

Role Responsibilities

• To be part of global database support engineers providing comprehensive shift coverage in supporting the TPICAP's database environment globally this will be a mixture of on-site and offsite to provide 24/7 coverage.

• Represent the Global DBA team in any major incident call and take ownership of problem and problem tasks resolution in a timely manner.

• To provide operational support for DB issues initiated from Incidents or Changes.

• To provide solutions and root cause analysis of system performance and failure related issues.

• To work on projects and provide close liaison with project teams to ensure the smooth transition of new databases and initiatives into the Production environment.

• To work closely with functional manager and other team members

• To review & recommend options to improve the effectiveness of the database infrastructure.

• To establish / maintain best practices, processes and procedures to underpin the operations of the business.

• To performance monitoring/Testing and capacity planning.

• Creation / maintenance of full system documentation, including DR documentation.

• Innovation – continually looking at ways to improve infrastructure, for a faster and more efficient environment.

• To provide support on wider IT initiative including business continuity and security.

• To participate in on-call rota and align to the agile working policies.

Experience / Competences

Essential

• An experience DBA with at least 5 years hands on experience, ideally gained in Financial Services sector.

• A proven track record in managing Oracle databases in version 23ai and 19c

• A proven track record in managing MS SQL databases in SQL 2022 and SQL 2019

• Strong understanding of database clustering technologies – Oracle RAC, SQL AlwaysOn

• Hands on experience in performance tuning, data replication, provide high availability, disaster recovery, analytic, reporting solutions

• Experience in enterprise monitoring tools – Oracle OEM, Spotlight, AppDynamic

• Ability to create automation solutions (Unix shell, Windows PowerShell, Ansible)

• Experience in migrating databases to the cloud – AWS and Azure

• Accustomed to working in fast-pace, agile and pressurised environments

• Ability to deal with outages and major incidents

• Familiarity with ITIL standards

• Solid working knowledge in Redhat Linux and Windows servers

Desired

• A good understanding of Oracle Middleware, Weblogic 12c and Oracle E-Business Suite

• Hands on knowledge on MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, Postgres databases is desirable

• A good understanding of cloud technologies and DevOps principles

• ITIL certified

• Professional certification – Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified, AWS Solution Architect for example
