We're seeking a Database Script Engineer who thrives in digging into complex schemas, solving customer-specific data needs, and building internal tooling to power a modern SaaS platform. This role supports both AWS RDS PostgreSQL (ORM-managed) and MariaDB (script-driven) environments and will play a key role in supporting one-off requests, writing scalable scripts, and contributing to the modernization of our database infrastructure via AWS Aurora.

The main responsibilities of a Database Script Engineer include:

  • Write, maintain, and optimize SQL scripts across AWS RDS-hosted PostgreSQL and MariaDB environments.
  • Support one-off customer data requests and ad hoc reporting needs with speed and precision.
  • Navigate complex multi-tenant PostgreSQL schemas (Java ORM-managed) to extract, transform, and deliver data.
  • Build reusable internal tools or scripting utilities to enable self-service by product and support teams.
  • Assist in modernizing legacy database flows by planning and supporting migrations to AWS Aurora.
  • Collaborate with product managers, developers, and stakeholders to scope and fulfill data-related needs.
  • Participate in production troubleshooting and scheduled after-hours support rotations when needed.

To apply, you must be an expert on the following requirements:

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and MariaDB, in AWS RDS environments.
  • Expertise in writing complex SQL queries and analyzing performance.
  • Familiarity with Java-based ORMs (for PostgreSQL) and their impact on schema design.
  • Experience supporting multi-tenant environments, ideally using schema-per-customer models.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills to bridge technical and non-technical teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and support AWS Aurora (PostgreSQL or MySQL-compatible) migrations.
  • A self-driven, detail-oriented mindset with a passion for scalable data solutions.

It will also be favorable if you are knowledgeable in:

  • Experience with scripting and automation (e.g., Bash, Python).
  • Building internal admin tools or dashboards for non-engineering stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with AWS CLI or SDKs for managing RDS backups, parameters, and logs.

Location: Philippines

Work Arrangement: Fully remote/WFH

Shift: Monday - Friday, 9:00 PM - 6:00 AM
