Procurement Officer Responsibilities

The Procurement Officer reviews proposals ranging from routine to complex, negotiates prices within established ranges, recommends suppliers, reviews market trends, follows up on orders, verifies delivery, approves payments, and maintains records to ensure purchases are made at the right quantity, quality, price, and source.

  1. Contacts vendors/suppliers to establish specifications, schedule, and negotiate pricing. Ensures cost-effectiveness and product availability. Purchases within predetermined ranges and seeks managerial approval for purchases exceeding limits or with long lead times.
  2. Evaluates vendors considering service levels and pricing. Recommends changes in manufacturers when issues arise. Maintains a purchase order log noting cost changes and price reductions.
  3. Assists in studying, testing, and launching new or improved products or projects by recommending alternatives.
  4. Continuously sources new and better supply sources.
  5. Initiates material improvements based on technological advances.
  6. Maintains current stock levels within safety stock and target quantities.
  7. Ensures product costs are optimized through negotiation, monitors price trends influenced by economic, political, and social factors.
  8. Coordinates with other divisions to establish systems and procedures.
Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, or Accounting.
  • At least 1 year of procurement experience; fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Good command of English; effective communication with divisions, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Ability to perform in-depth cost analysis and evaluate transaction advantages/disadvantages.
  • Decisive, objective, and logical in decision-making regarding purchases.
  • Willing to work in Ortigas, Pasig (hybrid setup).
