Continuous learning is important as coding guidelines and regulations evolve. Responsibilities Review medical records and assign accurate diagnostic and procedural codes (ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS). Sequence codes correctly based on documentation and apply Present on Admission (POA) indicators. Ensure compliance with coding clinics and guidelines; query physicians for clarification when needed. Understand medical necessity, DRGs, APGs, and APRs for processing claims. Maintain knowledge of 3M coding and abstracting software, PCI, and EMR systems (e.g., Epic). Interact with healthcare professionals to resolve documentation discrepancies and support accurate reimbursement. Meet required quality and productivity targets; participate in training and coaching as needed. Qualifications At least 1–2 years of inpatient medical coding experience. Bachelors degree in medical records or a medical allied field (or nursing/related field as noted in postings). Active coding certification required (CPC, CCS, CIC, CCS-P, CCS, or similar). Knowledgeable in ICD-10-CM & ICD-10-PCS coding systems. Proficient in computer applications; familiarity with automated encoder systems. Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology. Able to work onsite or per posting requirements (some positions specify onsite in Ortigas, Alabang, or Clark; some offer remote work). Salary, Benefits, and Work Arrangement Salary varies by posting; examples include up to Php 65,000–70,000 gross monthly (depending on experience) and up to 90,000 sign-on bonus reported in some postings.
