About the role

We are seeking Certified Inpatient (CCS/CIC) Medical Coders to join the Shearwater Health team. This is a full-time, remote role, offering a competitive salary and excellent benefits.

As a Certified Inpatient Medical Coder you will play a vital role in ensuring accurate and compliant medical coding for our healthcare clients.

What you'll be doing

  1. Accurately code inpatient medical records using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
  2. Review medical documentation to identify the correct diagnostic and procedural codes
  3. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and resolve coding discrepancies
  4. Maintain detailed records and adhere to coding guidelines and regulations
  5. Provide regular reports on coding productivity and quality metrics
  6. Participate in ongoing education and training to stay up-to-date with coding changes and best practices

What we're looking for

  1. Must be a bachelor's degree graduate of any medical allied/ allied health courses
  2. Must have an active and updated medical coding certification: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) OR Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC)
  3. Minimum of 1 year experience in inpatient medical coding
  4. Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
  5. Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  7. Proficient in using coding software and electronic medical record systems
