Overview Join a dedicated healthcare team where your expertise makes a real impact We’re looking for a skilled Medical Referrals & Authorizations Specialist to streamline patient care by managing insurance verifications, referrals, and authorizations with precision. If you thrive on organization, problem-solving, and helping patients get the care they need, apply now Job Highlights Hourly Rate: USD 5.04, the equivalent in your local currency Schedule: Monday to Friday, Monday to Thursday, 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM (Visalia, California, USA) with a 1-hour lunch break Work Arrangement: Work from home Side note: Since this is a permanent work-from-home position and an “Independent Contractor” arrangement, the candidates must have their own computer and internet connection. They will handle their own benefits and taxes. The professional fees are on hourly rates and the rate depends on your performance in the application process. Responsibilities Manage Referrals: Handle the end-to-end referral process, from initial request to appointment scheduling. Insurance Verification: Verify patient insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage for requested services, specialist visits, and procedures. Prior Authorizations: Prepare, submit, and diligently follow up on prior authorization requests with various insurance companies in a timely manner. Communication Hub: Act as a liaison between patients, referring physician offices, specialty clinics, and insurance carriers to communicate statuses and resolve any issues. Documentation: Maintain meticulous and accurate documentation of all referral and authorization activities. Problem Resolution: Investigate and address any authorization denials, coordinating appeals or peer-to-peer reviews when necessary. Requirements Must have prior experience in a medical or healthcare setting with direct responsibility for medical insurance verification and the prior authorization process . Knowledge of different insurance plans (e.g., HMO, PPO) and their referral/authorization requirements. Exceptional attention to detail and superior organizational skills. Excellent professional written and verbal communication abilities. Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and handle sensitive patient information with strict adherence to HIPAA guidelines. Prior experience with insurance portals is a plus.
