Investment of Those Who Filed Complaints Against Neri Naig Reaches P89M, Says Their Lawyer

NERI NAIG CASE – Attorney Roberto Labe, the legal representative of 39 clients who have filed complaints against the actress-businesswoman, disclosed that his clients collectively invested P89 million in the skincare business led by Miranda. The wife of Parokya Ni Edgar frontman Chito Miranda is currently facing charges of syndicated estafa and violations of the Securities Regulation Code after her arrest on Saturday.

In an interview shared by ABS-CBN, Labe explained that the complainants are from Quezon City, Pasay City, Sta. Rosa City in Laguna, and Batangas City. They accused Miranda and six other board members of Dermacare-Beyond Skincare Solutions of deceiving the public by encouraging people to invest in a business that did not have the proper license to collect funds from the public.

Labe further explained that the business started online, where it solicited investments. While the clinic itself was legitimate, the investment scheme was not. He mentioned that Miranda's reputation as a well-known businesswoman played a role in convincing people to invest, as she was viewed as a trustworthy individual. He referred to her appearance on a segment called "Wais na Misis" as an example of her influence.

"They started online, asking (the) public to invest. Then of course this scheme– mayroon silang clinic, which is legitimate naman yung clinic," Labe explained.

In 2023, Labe's clients noticed that checks issued by the company began bouncing. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) later confirmed that Dermacare-Beyond Skincare Solutions was not authorized to seek investments from the public. The company had been offering "franchise partner agreements," promising a 12.6% return every quarter for five years, but lacked the required license.

Despite promises of high returns, the company eventually failed to return the invested funds, especially after it was revealed that it did not have registration or authorization from the SEC. Labe also mentioned that they can no longer contact the original owner of the company, "Chanda" Atienza, who is also being sought by authorities.
