The Assistant Senior Accounting Officer supports the financial operations of the manning agency, particularly in areas related to seafarer payroll, crew allotments, remittances, and compliance with maritime and local accounting regulations. The role requires keen attention to detail, understanding of international transactions, and familiarity with the operational needs of a crewing agency. Responsibilities Assist in preparing financial statements and internal management reports specific to manning operations. Support the Senior Accounting Officer in managing seafarer payroll processing, crew allotments, and remittance transactions. Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including bank reconciliations (especially foreign currency accounts). Ensure timely billing and collection from principals (shipowners or ship managers). Assist in preparing government remittances (SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG, BIR, etc.) and ensure compliance with local tax laws. Help coordinate with external auditors, BIR representatives, and maritime regulatory bodies (e.g., POEA, MARINA) during audits or inspections. Monitor petty cash disbursements and staff liquidations. Assist with budget preparation and monitoring of financial KPIs for vessel operations and overheads. Maintain proper documentation and filing for all financial and crew-related transactions. Participate in system improvements and ensure proper controls in accounting processes. Qualifications Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 2–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manning agency or maritime setting Knowledge of seafarer payroll, crew allotment procedures, and POEA/DOLE financial reporting standards is an advantage. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or ERP used in crewing agencies). Strong command of Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications. Familiarity with foreign currency transactions and international remittance procedures. Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
