This is an Individual Contributor role which may involve coaching and supporting development within the team.

Responsibilities
  • Support the CTE Manager in ensuring Group Reporting financial controls are tested for design and operating effectiveness for SOX purposes in line with the agreed plan.
  • Independently manage group reporting scope planning and monitoring of Group reporting controls; provide timely testing status updates to the Group reporting controls focal and owners.
  • Test controls around Group Reporting and other complex accounting areas.
  • Document deficiencies in the process of control in Metricstream, keep the deficiency tracker up to date with root causes, deep dives/retrospective reviews, and remediation plans that meet SOX attestation criteria; communicate investigations and remediation to relevant businesses.
  • Provide Shell SOX testing service to FO Process leads and Financial Control Business leads.
  • Monitor progress of control testing activities against plan and report progress to the Central Testing Unit Manager.
  • Act as subject matter expert in the area of SOX testing (Group Reporting).
What We Need From You
  • Education: Graduate in Economics, Audit or Accountancy.
  • Qualified CPA and/or additional professional qualifications in Accountancy/Finance/Audit/Internal Controls (e.g., CIA, ACCA, CISA) are preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience: 6+ years in internal controls or audit; 1-2+ years in a similar position; supervisory experience is an advantage (indirect).
  • Experience in planning and executing audits/test/walkthroughs; experience implementing controls frameworks within the business.
  • Experience in documenting processes and changes; SOX experience and experience with financial processes is desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of internal/financial controls, risk management, SOX, audit standards, corporate governance; solid accounting and finance knowledge.
  • Proven communication, influencing and interpersonal skills, including the ability to coach and manage a multicultural team.
  • Professional skepticism, analytical thinking, independence, results-oriented, fast-paced, resourceful, proactive.
  • IT literacy with MS Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Visio).
  • Language: English fluent in oral and written communication.
